Founded in 1995, Turkish hard discounter BİM has successful adapted the hard discount model, with its emphasis on private label, to emerging market conditions and been operating in North Africa for a decade. It currently has more than 700 stores in Egypt and Morocco, making it by far the largest chain in Africa in terms of store numbers.
